Leonard L. PackardMr. Leonard L. Packard, 54, passed away Wednesday, July 14, 2010 surrounded by his family at his home in Greenville after a courageous two-year battle with cancer. He was born December 17, 1955, the son of Leonard and Roselyn (Clevenger) Packard, and was a lifelong Greenville resident. On August 12, 1977, he married Kathryn M. Switzer. He was an athlete who loved playing softball and a longtime football and basketball official. He received a 30 year plaque from the Michigan High School Athletic Association commemorating his years of officiating. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. Above all, he was a loving and dedicated husband, father, and grandfather who loved life and lived it well. He will be deeply missed, especially by his wife of almost 33 years, Kathryn M. (Switzer) Packard of Greenville; children, Michael (Lauren) Packard of Rockford, Steven (Patrisha) Packard of Jefferson, NC, and Jenna Packard of Greenville; grandchildren, MyahRose Packard and Mason Packard; mother, Roselyn Packard of Greenville; sisters, Sonja (John) Swan of Stanton and Connie Packard of Greenville; mother-in-law, Mary J. Switzer of Greenville; sister-in-law, Kristin (Jody) Wilkes of Greenville; brother-in-law, Robert (Elizabeth) Switzer of Rockford; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Leonard Packard and his father-in-law, Donald T. Switzer. Memorial services will be held this Saturday, July 17 at 1:30 PM at Hurst Funeral Home Greenville, with the Rev. R. Mark Shaw officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. A Rosie, Kathy,Mike and family, Steve and family and Jenna, Sonja and family, and Connie and family and the Switzer family. My heart is sadden by the loss of Lenny. He was a dear fun loving cousin that brought many laughs throughout our childhood and beyond. Although we get busy in our everyday lives and sometimes don't realize how much time has passed us by. God always puts our family in our hearts and minds and we think about each and everyone often. My only regret is that we don't see our extended families enough! Love you guys

Dear Kathy and family, we are deeply saddened to hear about Lenny's passing. Lenny was a good friend and has secured a special spot in my hearts memory until we meet up once again on the other side of the Jordan. I find my soul smiling with joy when I think of the many good times we shared at work, shooting bows, hunting, playing softball or just hanging out. Anyone who had the opportunity to call Lenny friend was truly a blessed person. Please know that you are all remembered in our thoughts and prayers. Jeff & Jennifer

I understand and feel your pain and grief in the loss of "Lenny". Lenny was a true icon for Godly men to follow. What a blessing in my life to have such a great cousin to grow up with. Though we all will miss him greatly, we should rejoice in the fact that he is with our Lord and Savior. No more pain and suffering for him. How great it must be to be with Jesus. I can just imagine his Father, Grandma & Grandpa Clevenger, Grandpa & Grandma Packard standing there in heaven with open arms to welcome him home!
