Dora Sass Bidstrup Ostrander, 103, a longtime resident of Turk Lake, passed away at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Wayne and Barbara Bidstrup, in Marietta, Georgia on Monday, August 16, 2010. Dora was an employee of Wolverine Wide World for 29 years, retiring in 1966. Dora was the youngest of five daughters born to Christian and Minnie Sass. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Wallace Bidstrup, in 1936 and her second husband, Layton Ostrander, in 2002. Besides her son and daughter-in-law, she is survived by grandchildren, W. Richard Bidstrup and wife Kristin of Arlington, VA, Sue Bidstrup Allen and husband Mark Allen of Atlanta, GA, and Steven M. Bidstrup and wife Beth of Manlius, NY and great grandchildren, Brian and Anna Bidstrup, David and Sarah Allen, and Erik and Devin Bidstrup. Funeral services will be held this Friday, August 20, 2010 at 3:00 PM at the Turk Lake United Methodist Church, with interment to follow at South Sidney Cemetery. Rev. Betsy Kamphuis of St. Paul Lutheran Church will serve as officiant. Friends and relatives may greet the family from 2:00 to 3:00 prior to the service at church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St. Paul Lutheran Church or to the charity of your choice.
