Mr. Boyce Douglas Evans, age 93, of Scram Lake, Rockford, passed away late Tuesday, November 30, 2010 at Metron of Greenville. He was born July 18, 1917 in Clarksville. On April 18, 1941, he married Dolores Ruth Holzhay in Allendale. Boyce was a proud veteran, having served his country in the United States Navy. Together he and his wife owned and operated Evans Floorsanding. He was an avid amateur radio operator (call letters NS8X). He is survived by his loving wife of almost 70 years, Dolores; children, Gregory Evans of Greenville, Gretchen (Roy) Parker of South Carolina, and Gayle (Bob) Morgensen of Grattan; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and his brother, Adrian Sterzick. He was preceded in death by his brother, Clifford Evans. Funeral services including committal will be held Saturday at 2:00 PM at Hurst Funeral Home, Greenville, with visitation from 1:00 to 2:00 PM prior to the service. Rev. Steve Charnley will serve as officiant. Private burial will be in Rosedale Memorial Park, Standale. Memorial contributions may be given to Spectrum Health Hospice.
