Raymond Ernst BauerRaymond Bauer, resident of Sheridan, formerly of Frankenmuth, Michigan, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, January 5, 2011, passing away at Butterworth-Spectrum Hospital in Grand Rapids at the age of 87 years. He was born June 1, 1923, in Denmark Township, Tuscola County, to the late Edwin Bauer and Emma (Mossner) Bauer. He was baptized at home on June 17. He was married to Lalah Bachellor on July 28, 1946. She survives him. He was a member of St. Lorenz Lutheran Church in Frankenmuth and attended Hope Lutheran Church in Stanton. Raymond taught for 9-1/2 years in Lutheran schools and afterwards was a salesman for a school map-publishing business, Nystrom, and later owned a similar map business, American Geographic, in Fenton. Upon his retirement, he and Lalah moved to their farm in Sheridan, where he enjoyed sharing the Gospel of Christ to many in prison and other venues. Surviving besides his wife, Lalah, are four children: Joan (Don) Schneeberger; Ruth (Terry) Weiss; Dallas (Marcella) Bauer; Jackie (Bryan) Gerlach; eleven grandchildren: Christopher (Barbara) Weiss; Randi (Billy) Watchorn; Traci (Gregg) Barcelow; Joel (Lauren) Schneeberger; Julie (Bauer) Fullerton; Eric Bauer; Carolyn Bauer; Lt. (jg) Jacob Gerlach; Andrew Gerlach; Gregory Gerlach; Michael Gerlach; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Erwin (Dorothy) Bauer; Marie (Robert) Eggers and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, mother, sisters Milda Bauer and Edna Tafel, and a brother-in-law, Herbert Tafel.

Funeral services will take place at 10:15 A.M. Sat Jan. 8, 2011 at the Cederberg Funeral Home of Frankenmuth, 590 N. Franklin St. and 11:00 A.M. at St. Lorenz Lutheran Church. Rev. Dale Ahlschwede will officiate with burial between services in St. Lorenz Cemetery. Raymond's family will receive visitors at the Hurst Funeral Home, 1801 W. Washington, Greenville, MI, on Thursday, from 6-8 PM, and at the Cederberg Funeral Home of Frankenmuth on Friday from 2-8 P.M. and on Saturday from 9:30 A.M. until the time of service. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. Lorenz Student Aid Fund.

I remember going to their home after football games and have a few cocktails, or a few to many cocktails and enjoying laughter and good political conversations. I will never, never forward an email with all the forwards, he scolded me once for doing that and still to this day when I forward an email I think of him and that is almost everyday. I know he will be greatly missed by his family and friends. We all know he is in the Lord hands now. My deepest Sympathy, Lori
