Howard William Jerome Click for Condolences      Printable Version
1925 - 2011

Howard W. Jerome, age 85, passed away peacefully at home on February 8, 2011, and entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior. Howard was born October 3, 1925, in Elm Hall, MI, the son of Edward and Gertrude Jerome. On March 25, 1948, he married Geraldine June Perry in Perrington, MI. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, wine making, woodworking and spending time with family and friends. He proudly served his country during WWII in the Army Air Force 461st Squadron. He was employed by GM Buick in Flint before retiring to Spring Hill, Florida in 1972. Howard is survived by his wife, daughters Peggy Harris (Alabama), Patsy Boog (Florida), Cathy Knight (Stanton) and Karen Orange (Tennessee), sisters Donna Conwell (Tennessee) and Doris Church (Brethren), and brother Roy Jerome (Brethren), 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings (Arthur Jerome, John Allen and Ellen Tousley). Howard was known for his humor, kindness and his ability to build or repair anything. He displayed the same fun and adventurous spirit as his ancestors, Jennie Jerome Churchill and Jerome K. Jerome. The last three months of his life, he was lovingly attended in his home by three wonderful caregivers, Pam Reese, Margaret Barnes and Jeri Ritter, to whom the family will be forever grateful. Hospice was also of tremendous support. The family plans a memorial service and interment of cremains at a later date.

I miss you, daddy. I'm so glad you were my neighbor this past year. It was an honor to care for you and ease your passing. You were the best daddy. I will miss you always. I learned so much from you. I learned to drive with the skill of a race car driver (!), and I learned to recycle, repurpose and reuse. Thank you for being such a good example for us in so many ways. I'll take good care of mama. I love you.

You were a great Father and a wonderful grandpa. I will miss your knowledge of how to fix anything with anything you had on hand. We are so sad that you are gone but so happy to know without a doubt that we will see you again someday!

I'm so sorry to hear of Howard's passing. I have so many fond memories of visiting Jerrie & Howard in Florida. He was a lot of fun and was very helpful to my mom and dad when they lived next door. Looking forward to seeing him again in Heaven. God bless you, Howard.
