Mrs. Dolores Ruth Evans, age 90, of Scram Lake, Rockford, passed away on her 70th wedding anniversary, Monday, April 18, 2011 at Spectrum Health United Memorial Hospital in Greenville. She was born September 11, 1920 in Grand Rapids, the daughter of Herman and Margaret (Endres) Holzhay. On April 18, 1941, she married Boyce Douglas Evans in Allendale. He preceded her in death on November 30, 2010. Dolores was a particularly devoted daughter. She loved gardening and adored her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her children, Gregory Evans of Greenville, Gretchen (Roy) Parker of South Carolina, and Gayle (Bob) Morgensen of Grattan; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services including committal will be held Thursday at 2:00 PM at Hurst Funeral Home, Greenville, with visitation from 1:00 to 2:00 PM prior to the service. Rev. Steve Charnley will serve as officiant. Private burial will be in Rosedale Memorial Park, Standale. Memorial contributions may be given to the Fred & Lena Meijer Heart Center.
