Verna Kay Marks age 63 of Greenville passed away Tuesday evening April 19, 2011 at Metron of Greenville. She was born July 7, 1947 in Greenville the daughter of Vernon and Hilda Ziegenfuss Marks. She was employed at Ore-Ida Foods for many years until their closing, formerly attended First Church of God and enjoyed crocheting.
Surviving are her mother Hilda Wright of Greenville, her sister, Teresa Wright also of Greenville, her brother Jeff Wright of Lowell and her niece Jessica Wright of Lowell.
Her father preceded her in death as did her maternal grandparents David and Jessie Ziegenfuss.
Family graveside funeral services will be held on Good Friday April 22, 2011 at Fairplains Cemetery, Greenville with Rev. Bob Cooper of 1st Church of God serving as officiant. Memorial contributions may be given to the 1st Church of God |

I attended school with Kay(Verna). She was a friend of mine, that took care of roger when he went to the circus. I had lunch with her at McDonalds before work. A wonderful person I will miss her.

I attended school with Verna and was surprised when I went on this site to check out another obituary and found her name here. Verna was a very nice person and I enjoyed her smile and sense of humor. I saw her once in awhile around town and when she was at Metron. May she rest in peace.

Verna , was a beautiful kind and careing soul ;she was rare a true friend with a big heart and a gentle heart .
i worked with her at the daily news she was very kind and had a great since of humor .
I was very sad to hear of her passing the world has lost a treasure a rare and beautiful treasure .Not many people can say that they meet one of Gods gift to the world but she was truly one .Verna I will miss you but I know now that you are in a better place .Goodbye for now til we meet again know that you were my friend and i love and miss you .Sincerely ,

I was a Greenville High School 1966 classmate of Verna's and was very sorry to hear of her passing. I had a few classes with her in high school so admittedly did not know her well. She was always very quite in school but if I addressed her personally she would respond in a very friendly way. She always seemed to prefer to keep in the company of another classmate Elaine Spencer.
I don't remember seeing Verna more then a couple times since we graduated from high school, even though we lived in the same town. I am truly sorry for your loss and for loosing another classmate at what I consider too young an age.
