Marion Christina Scott age 78 of Greenville passed away Thursday April 28, 2011 at Masonic Pathways, Alma. She was born in Fenwick November 6,1932 the daughter of Milo and Helen Petersen Mason. Marion was a graduate of Greenville High School with the class of 1950 and worked at United Memorial Hospital for 32 and ½ years, also assisted with the distribution of The Detroit Free Press for many years. She enjoyed flowers, tending to her garden, loved her cats that found her.
She married Leland Scott at St. Paul Lutheran Church on December 28,1968. He preceded her in death on October 18,1998. She was also preceded in death by her grand daughter Marion Helen Hawes in 1975 and her brothers wife Ruth Mason on April 25 2011.
She is survived by her children; Dan Hawes, Carol and Steven Rittersdorf, all of Greenville and Tom and Marcia Hawes of Rochester Hills, MI, grandchildren; Leland, Devin, Allison, Emily, Matt, and Thomas Hawes, Lisa and Brian Gardner, Lora and Ron Edgar and Ryan Rittersdorf and fiancé Sara Nutt, great grandchildren; Carly, Sydney, Sophia and Anna, her brother Max Mason of Ionia, sisters Ruth Reed and Marvel Linnan of Greenville, Sue and Terry Howell of Trufant and Marguerite Summar of Pennsylvania.
Funeral services will be held on Monday May 2, 2011 at 11 AM from Hurst Funeral Home with Rev. Betsy Kamphuis officiating. Burial will be in South Sidney Cemetery, Sheridan. Visitation will be Sunday from 3 to 6 PM at Hurst Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be given to St. Paul Lutheran Church or Masonic Pathways 2 South.
