I had Miss Tomko for typing class in the mid 70's. One day some kids were laughing at me in class because of me playing football, she made them stop. I will NEVER forget that or those mean kids for laughing at me. Thank you Miss Tomko for sticking up for a little freshman to those upper class students.

Miss Tomko taught 6 of my 10 sybilings typing. WE would all share stories. My experience was sitting at the desk next to her. I wouldn't quit talking. She let me have an electric typewriter. Never raised her voice 'Hm Hm' until you got the look. Signed my freshman yearbook 'Even when we came to blows, you were a favorite student'. When my Mother passed 5 years ago she was right there. I smiled for many good memory of sitting next to her that year in 'punishment' was the best part of my day. Remember 'A, semi, semi, A, semi, semi, work those pinkies strong' Wonderful teacher, woman, and friend. Bless you Miss Tomko! Thank you.

I had Miss Tomko for Shorthand and Bookkeeping in High School in Greenville. She also lived around the corner from us out on Montcalm Ave. After not seeing her for over 40 years, she actually remembered me one day when I talked with her at Meijer. She was a very nice lady.

Miss Tomko was an influential teacher for me in Jr. High and High School in Greenville. In one of her classes she had a project for us involving an international penpal exchange. Out of that 7th grade class and the penpal program, I am still corresponding with my penpal who was from Glasgow, Scotland and now lives in Tel Aviv, Israel (a 55 year relationship that started under Miss Tomko's tutelage). Then in high school I had her for typing class, a necessary skill, for all of us. I'm sorry I didn't have contact with her in later life to thank her for her influence on my development. May she be lovingly remembered by all who had contact with her.

Ms. Tomko was a good teacher. I learned a great deal from her at GHS. It seems she lived a long life and I imagine a happy life.
