Gordon Allan DeVries, age 58, died Sunday, May 22, 2011 at his home near Greenville. He was born February 16, 1953 in Grand Rapids, the son of John and Marjorie (Duemler) DeVries. On July 28, 1979, he married the former Vicki Soss. She survives, along with his children, Michael (Sandy) DeVries, David DeVries (Alyson Rieckman), and Sean DeVries, all of Belding; grandchildren, Haley, Darin, and Christian; mother, Marjorie DeVries of Belding; siblings, Judy (Elindo) Castro of Cedar Springs, Walt (Bobbi) DeVries of Jenison, Greg (Cheryl) DeVries of Jenison, and Deb (Rick) Howe of Belding; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Linda (Tom) Bartlett of Lakeview, Robert (Jill) Granstrom of Wisconsin, Sherry Comden of California, and Brian Soss of Belding; his special dogs, Scooter and Spike; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, aunts, and uncles. He was preceded in death by his father, John DeVries; step-father, Harry DeVries; and sister-in-law, Carol Johnston. Memorial services will be held Saturday, May 28, 2011 at 1:00 PM at Hurst Funeral Home, Greenville, with Rev. Robert Wagner of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Belding officiating. Memorial contributions may be given to the DeVries family.
