1925 - 2011
 Kathleen Tower age 86 of Oakfield Township Greenville passed away at her home on Sunday July 3, 2011. She was born in Akron, Ohio on May 15, 1925 the daughter of Earl and Audrey White Cunningham. She married Carl J. Tower in Providence RI on March 2, 1946. She was a member of the Greenville Church of the Nazarene, the Oakfield Pioneer Heritage Society, served as deputy clerk of Oakfield Township and wrote articles for the White Swan News of the Rockford Register.
She was preceded in death by her mother at an early age and raised with her father and stepmother, Hazel. They all preceded her in death along with her daughter Jane Smith on October 9, 2005 and also her sisters Ruth Richmond and Gertrude Sutherland.
She is survived by her husband Carl J. Tower of Oakfield Township, their children, Stephen Tower of Greenville, Kathleen Tower of Tucson AZ, Martha (Robert) Middlebrook of Rockford, son-in-law Charles Smith of Stanton, 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren, her sister Helen Fox of Pierce, AZ and brother Bruce Cunningham of Cape Cod, MA.
Funeral services will be held on Friday July 8, 2011 at 10 AM from Hurst Funeral Home with Rev. Timothy Deshaw officiating. Burial will be in White Swan Cemetery, Oakfield Township. Visitation will be Thursday from 7 to 9 PM. Memorial contributions may be given to Church of the Nazarene, American Heart Association or Oakfield Pioneer Heritage Society

I am so sorry that I cannot attend Kate's visitation or funeral. I will be in Lansing with several of my students. Deb, my wife i planning to bring my mother and my condolences. Please know that I too have many memories of the Tower home, and that you will be in my thoughts and prayers. Kate's memory will live on in all of us.

I am praying for the family during this difficult time. Although I have to work Friday morning, I shall try to attend visitation on Thursday night. Kate's memories will stay with me for my entire lifetime. I count her as one of my best friends.

I remember going to the Avery reunions and always stopping at Carl and Kate Towers either before or after the picnic. My parents (Howard & Wanda Reyburn) always enjoyed Carl and Kate's company and thought of Kate with much love. You are in my prayers.
