Laura Evelyn Aylsworth Harper age 89 of Greenville passed away on September 7, 2011 at her home.
Born January 8, 1922, she was the second child of Ralph and Beatrice Kuhn Aylsworth of Harvard MI.
As a 16 year old, she worked as a cook at the old United Memorial Hospital, earning $2.00 a week, plus all the food she wanted to eat. During WWII, as part of the Gibson Refrigerator war effort, she worked in the glider shop applying glue to glider chassis and wings. In the 1950's she was employed as an apple sorter for Belding Fruit Sales and later she sewed seat covers for General Motors Fisher Body Plant # 2.
An Avid reader, she also wrote family related poetry for special occasions.
Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband Floyd Harper, and brothers Lloyd Aylsworth and Kenneth Aylsworth.
She is survived by her daughter Janice (David) Heyer of Circleville OH, her grandchildren; Daniel (Gwen) Heyer, Aaron Heyer and Louisa Heyer and great grandchildren, Gabriel and Emma Heyer all of Ohio. She is also survived by brothers; Claude (Audrey) Aylsworth, Francis (Marjorie) Aylsworth, sister Shirley (Donald) Calkins, sister-in-law Alice Aylsworth, eleven nieces and nephews, friends, Barb, Florence and Maggie, caregivers Katie Mier and Beckey Rowloff and her cat Bonnie.
Graveside services will be held at 11 AM Saturday September 10, 2011 at Forest Home Cemetery (Section # 33) in Greenville. Visitation will be Friday from 6 to 8 PM at Hurst Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be given to the Flat River Community Library.
