 CHAPMAN- Kathleen (Kathie) Jean Bacon Chapman, 47, of South Lyon, Michigan, formerly of Greenville went to be with her Lord on Thursday, October 6, 2011. She was born July 27, 1964 in Greenville, Michigan. She is survived by her husband, John Chapman, whom she married December 21, 1985 in Alpena. Kathie was preceded in death by her parents, Richard E. and Maxine (Stapish) Bacon, Sr.; her former spouse, Richard Dyess; niece, Demetria Wieland; and great niece, Graeleye Nicholas. Surviving are her siblings, James R. Sr. and Sheryl Bacon of Holt Summit, MO, Richard Bacon, Jr, of Saranac, Linda Bacon-Kendall of Ionia, John F., Sr and Roxene Bacon of Summerville, SC, William Bacon of Jackson, Margaret and Darrell Johnston of Stafford, VA, Janet and Michael Priddy of Silsbee, TX, Jerry Bacon of Grandville, and Larry Bacon of South Lyon; nieces, Regena and Michael Gruber, Chanda Wieland and Jack Smith, Tami and Duane Thomas, Olivia and Timothy Day, and Elizabeth and Billy Roberts; nephews, James Jr. and Sandy Bacon, Jason Bacon, Joshua Bacon, Ricky Bacon, John Bacon Jr., Anthony Bacon, Robert Bacon, Nathaniel Johnston, Lars Johnston, Alexander and Karen Johnston, Steven and Andrea Meadows, and Patrick Dixon Jr.; and 30 great-nieces and great-nephews. Kathie was a founding member of the VFW Jr. Girls Unit 5065 in Sheridan and an Auxiliary 5065 member for 31 years. Kathie enjoyed genealogy research, quilting, reading, cross-stitch and made many friends through the internet. Kathie loved animals with a particular fondness for cats. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Monday October 10, 2011 at Hurst Funeral Home, Greenville, with Rev. Ken Harger officiating. Private interment will be in Forest Home Cemetery, Greenville. Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00 to 6:00 PM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the VFW National Home, Veterans Hospital, or Michigan Humane Society.

John, and family, I am so very sorry for your loss.
Although I never met Kathie in person, I had many phone conversations with her and chatted on the internet. She was a wonderful person and will be missed.
