1923 - 2011
 Frances (Fran) Viggo Steffensen age 88 of Greenville passed away on Thursday November 3, 2011 at Spectrum Health United Memorial Greenville. He was born in Greenville on July 25, 1923 the son of Alfred Viggo and Anna Marie Mathersen Steffensen. Fran was married to Donna Pritchard in Stanton MI on February 2, 1946. He graduated from Stanton High School and Aquinas College with a degree in business administration. He was in the accounting department of Gibson Refrigerator working there 34 years. He was a member of the First Congregational Church of Stanton where he served as a Sunday school teacher and superintendent. He also was a member of the Danish Brotherhood and enjoyed many years of bowling, golf and wintering in Florida.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Donna of Greenville, daughters, Carolyn (Larry) Guard of South Bend, IN and Marilyn (Gale) Parr of Stanton, grandchildren, Celena (Leon Virg ) Mills of St. Johns, Christine (Brad) Holajter of Maysville, KY, Luke (Michelle) Parr of Edmore, Amber (Captain Andrew) Till of Ft. Leonardwood, MO, great grandchildren, Archer, Markus and Lita Mills, Cailin, Sophie and Owen Holajter, Landon Parr and Karson Till and sister in law Marie Steffensen of Deming NM. He was preceded in death by his brother Darwin and sister Shriley Tiedje.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday November 9, 2011 at 11 AM from First Congregational Church in Stanton with Rev. Jamey Nichols officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 to 7 PM at Hurst Funeral Home. Burial will be in Rest Haven Memory Gardens, Belding. Memorial contributions may be given to 1st Congregational Church Stanton 305 N. Camburn, PO Box 926,Stanton MI 48888. |

Dear Steffensen family, Fran was my first employer after high school, in 1961, at Gibson Refrigerator in Greenville, what a wonderful employer and friend, any time I saw him on the street after he was always interested in my life and what/where I had been, he will truly be missed.
