Dear Jan, Chris & John & Family, Dick was in the Confirmation mentoring class last year with me and the 7-8th gr. youth. He always had words of wisdom to add to whatever subject, we were discussing. He had great common sense and could identify and answer questions from youth and adults, with no problem. It was good getting to know him and he will be missed!! Blessings to the family and know he is now in heaven with Jesus, in glory!!

I had the good opportunity to meet Dick through the real estate business. Having been in the business for over 33 years and a Broker with up to 60 agents and 3 offices at one point, I have met and seen many kinds of people, some honest and some not so honest. Dick was absolutely at the top of the field. His honesty and credibility were unquestionable and I would have liked to have had an office full of Dick Carpenter's. He always had a kind word and more than likely a joke to tell. He was one of those good persons that would light up a room when he entered. I always had a good opinion of Dick and then I found out that he was a Marine to boot....they just do not come any better than that. Dick, you will be missed by those who knew you well and by those that only had interaction with you once in a while. You have touched many lives in a positive way and have lived an honorable life, please rest in peace.

Dear Janet: Our sympathy and prayers are with you and your family in Dick's death. I can remember Dick since I was in early Elementary school. He went all through the school years together with myself and a few others and I lived only a few blocks away from his family in the 30's. I remember his little brother Jerry and other neighbors around that time. Take care. Love, Cora Rogers Oesterle

I was saddened to hear of Dick's passing. I lived down the bottom of the hill from the Carpenters on the corner of Luray and Grove. I always remember how nice Dick kept his yard. He was so much fun to talk to! He was so helpful when my husband and I were just starting out looking for our first home. He even set up an appointment for us with a wonderful mortgage rep. My mom also purchased furniture from the store through the years because of the wonderful service his store gave. I will be thinking and praying for all of you during this difficult time.
