1919 - 2012
 Mona Violet Petersen, age 92, died early Wednesday morning, February 15, 2012 at The Woods at Maple Creek in Grand Rapids. She was born July 28, 1919 in Trufant, the daughter of Peter and Karen (Jensen) Petersen. After graduating from school in Trufant, she graduated from business school in Grand Rapids. She worked at the former Gibson Refrigerator Company during World War II, leaving to work at MichCon Gas Company, where she was employed until her retirement in 1979. She was a longtime member of the former Trinity Lutheran Church and current St. Paul Lutheran Church. Mona was preceded in death by her parents and her brother and sister-in-law, Homer and Ella Petersen. She is survived by her nieces and nephew, Lois (Joel) Van Dyke of Florida, Lana (Jim) French of Houghton Lake, and Ronald Petersen of Trufant; and many great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces, and great-great-nephews. Funeral services including committal will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, February 18, 2012 at Hurst Funeral Home in Greenville, with visitation from 1:00 to 2:00 PM prior to the funeral. Mona's pastor, Rev. Betsy Kamphuis of St. Paul Lutheran Church, will serve as officiant. Private burial will take place in the spring in Trufant Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to St. Paul Lutheran Church.

Lois,Lana,Ron & Families. I would also like to say a HUGE thank you for sharing Mona with us and our family. She was truly a blessing and a treasured friend. She is now in heaven with all of her friends and family and she can see. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time.

Lois, Lana, Ron & Families.
Thank-you for sharing Mona with our family for 50 plus years. Mona was a joy to be around! We have many wonderful memories of her and those will remain in our hearts forever. We are sad that she is gone,our hearts rejoice that she is in heaven with no more sickness or pain. Mona can see again!! Our sincerest sympathy to you and your families!
