Virginia Yvonne Thomas age 88 of Greenville passed away at Spectrum Health United Campus in Greenville on Thursday April 5, 2012. She was born in Muskegon on August 20, 1923 the daughter of William and Beulah Clinard Sweet. She married Robert E. Thomas in Paris, MI on November 24, 1941. She was retired from the former Gibson Refrigerator Co. (WCI) in 1977 and was a member of the UAW Local 137. She enjoyed bowling and was a member of the Hall of Fame in the Greenville Women's League and she also enjoyed going to Bingo.
She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Robert, their sons; Robert L. of Stanton and Terry L. (Paulette) Thomas of Chattanooga, Tennessee, 11 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren, her sister Alvina Swarvar of Muskegon, her sisters-in-law, Sandra Sweet of Big Rapids and Mary Jo ( Randy) Von Feldt of Stafford, Texas and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a great granddaughter, Kerrie and her brothers, Clifford and Cletus Sweet.
Funeral services will be held on Monday April 9, 2012 at 1 PM at Hurst Funeral Home with Rev. Ken Harger officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Memory Gardens, Belding. Visitation will be on Monday from 11 AM to 1 PM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Legion Post #101, Greenville.
