
Maxine Beva Burtenshaw age 78 formerly of Belding and Greenville passed away peacefully Friday June 15 2012 at The Laurels of Carson City. Maxine was born September 1 1933 in Flint Mich, the only child of Fenno William and Beleata Enola Rentschler Schade.
Maxine was a graduate of Greenville High School class of 1951 where she was voted "most athletic " girl. After graduation she attended Central Michigan University for a short time before joining Charles William "Bill" Burtenshaw in Cheyenne Wyoming where he was stationed at F.E Warren Air Force Base. They were married on Aug 2 1952 in Greeley Colorado at the court house by a justice of the peace with two unknown cowboys acting as witness!
Bill proceed her in death on July 30 1977, her father Fenno in Oct 1989 and her Mother Bea Dec 31 1999.
Maxine was the picture of practicality and selflessness. She will be remembered for her extraordinary devotion to her family, her Mother Bea that she always said was her "best friend", her surviving children, Charles William II "Bill" and his wife Tracey of Gowen, Kathryn Ann and her husband Herb Heie of Talbott, TN, and Lisa Louise Burtenshaw-Davidson and Jim Clum of Rockford. Her Grandchildren Krista and her husband Christopher Hoster of N.C., Michael Feuerstein of T.N. Chelsea Burtenshaw, Travis Burtenshaw and Rhiannaon Guinnup all of Gowen, Lindsay and her husband Mike Lichter of Miss.
Maxine also took much joy and delight in her six Great Grandchildren, Olivia and Carson Hoster, Alexus and Andrew Dunn and Aspen and Emmett Burtenshaw.
Maxine was a lifetime student of nature, always fascinated with the wonderment that it offered, she loved to share her knowledge with the Grandchildren, she enjoyed camping, fishing, bird watching and gardening, she could grow award winning flowers and fruit. She shared a passion for golf with her special golf partner Gerri Hubler of Belding.
Maxine was a "Horse Mom", she spent many years with her daughter Lisa training and showing horses and then later with her Granddaughter Lindsay. She supported the 4-H program, she taught Sunday school at the United Methodist church in Belding,she was active along side of her husband Bill in the development of the Greenville Danish Festival.
Maxine had been employed as a real estate agent for Kemp Realty, a para-pro at Ellis Elem. school Belding, secretary at Warner Trucking for a number of years and was her daughter Kathryn's "right hand" at The Gibson House Bed and Breakfast and at Chapter III Gift Shop.
She was loved beyond measure and will be missed as much.
Private graveside services will be held at River Ridge Cemetery, Belding. Memorial contributions may be given to Hospice or a local animal shelter.
