1938 - 2012
Mr. Kenneth Melvin Wheelock, Jr., age 74 of Greenville and Naples, FL, passed away Wednesday, July 25, 2012 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Ken was born January 28, 1938 in Belding, the son of Kenneth Melvin Wheelock, Sr. and Irene (Knapp) Wheelock. He graduated from Greenville Senior High School, class of 1956. He was a former dairy farmer and life insurance agent. He also managed condominium complexes and owned and operated a landscape management business in Florida. He enjoyed traveling and camping. He loved NASCAR and loved ice cream, especially his favorite, Moose Tracks. Ken is survived by his loving wife, Kay; mother, Irene Wheelock Wright of Greenville and Naples, FL; children, Michael Wheelock of Cullman, AL, Kimberly Thorpe (James Sauber) of Charlotte, MI, Christopher Wheelock of Wellington, FL, Karen (David) Barker of Greenville, Kendra McClelland of Belding, Katrina Bellmer of Belding, Susanne (Matt) Evans of Rockford, Mark (Linda) Swan of Stanton, John (Sonja) Swan of Stanton, Ranae (Jack) Bowles of Lehigh Acres, FL, Tim (Sunflower) Swan of Fruitport, and Greg (Nancy) Swan of Gwinn; 28 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Wheelock, Sr.; sister, Delores Bruner; and step-father, Ken Wright. Memorial services will be held at 3:00 PM Monday, July 30, 2012 at Hurst Funeral Home, Greenville, with Pastor Mike Austin of Liberty Baptist Church officiating.

Don and I were sorry to hear about Ken's passing..we have been praying for the family since we heard the news..We would have been at the memorial service but find out till late yesterday(Monday) that it was at 3pm Monday. Don and Ken are cousins. Please feel free to call us if there is anything we can do to help the family. We wonder how Irene is doing?

Such a tragic, horrific loss for all family and friends. I was a friend and classmate of Ken's in Belding. I spent some time with Ken at the 50th reunion. I was amazed at his lifelong accomplishments through his work ethic and dedication. Our heartfelt sympathies to Kay and family members. Such a tragic loss.
