Christopher Lewis Finney, Sr., age 62 of Sheridan, died Saturday, November 3, 2012 from injuries sustained in a trucking accident in Monroe, Michigan. He was born January 4, 1950 in Fremont. On May 20, 1972, he married Sandra L. DeGlopper in Decatur, MI. Chris proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was a semi truck driver, logging millions of miles in his career. Most of all, he was a devoted family man who loved Sunday dinners with his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Sandy; sons, Chris Finney, Jr. and Charlton (Nokle) Finney; grandchildren, Chris III (Amanda), Al (Nickie), Aaron (Reghan), Keegan, Chase, Chelsy, Miller, Austin, Jordan, and Trenton; brother, John (Barb) Finney; sister, Roxie (Eddie) Chandler; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Techla (Mike) Lane, Rick (Shirley) Mockerman, Wahneta (Chuck) Cornell, Fred Mockerman, Leesa Russell, Cheryl (Tom) Cornelius, Mack (Jennifer) DeGlopper, and Allen (Gwen) Poling; and mother-in-law, Bernie Poling. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, November 8, 2012 at Hurst Funeral Home, Greenville, with Rev. Philip Van Dop of the First Congregational Church of Sheridan officiating. Interment, with military honors rendered by the Lester J. Sitts VFW Post 5065, will follow in South Sidney Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
