Berniece D. Gillson age 91 of Sheridan passed away Thursday November 15, 2012 at Heartland Care Manor, Ionia. Berniece Diana Hull Gillson was born on October 27, 1921 in Gratiot County to William and Mary Lola Fisk Hull. On April 29,1938 she married Archie Dale Gillson in Muir, MI. Three years later they bought a farm at Sheridan where they lived out their married life and raised their family. They had two children; a daughter Joyce (Douglas) Hunter and a son Dale (Ruth) Gillson.
She is survived by her children, her grandchildren; Dianna (Bob) Lund, Lori Hunter, Leslie Hunter, Jeremy (Lisa) Gillson and Laura (Terry) Ferris, great grandchildren; Chelsea (Miguel) Aguilar, Cooper Daller, Abigail Lund, Zoey Hunter, Jonathan and Brandon Ferris and Alysia and Emma Gillson, great great grandchildren, Mason and Niko Aguilar, many nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Archie in 1987, her brothers, Alvia Austin, Theodore Austin, Robert Hull, Mearl Hull, Russell Hull, Albert Hull and Miles Hull and her sister Sadie Belle Kiefer.
She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who loved her kids and grand kids unconditionally. She was a hard worker on the farm with Dad and a great cook and housekeeper. She is going to be greatly missed by all who knew her and loved her.
She loved to crochet and then give it away as gifts and sometimes just because. She loved to read and enjoyed her coffee group, which got together once a week. She was a life member of the Auxiliary of VFW Post 5065 Sheridan .
One thing for everyone to remember is that she is with Dad and her family and friends that have gone on before her. She is probably cooking Dad his favorite Sunday dinner, fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, homemade noodles and biscuits.
We cant mourn her. Yes we will miss her terribly, but she is with the love of her life and we are sure he welcomed her with open arms. God Bless them both.
Funeral services will be held on Monday November 19, 2012 at 1 PM at Hurst Funeral Home with Rev. Ken Harger officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Sheridan. Visitation will be Sunday from 1 to 5 PM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to Heartland Hospice
