1928 - 2012
 Mr. Donald E. Barber, age 84, passed away Monday, December 24, 2012 at his home in Greenville. He was born January 8, 1928 in Durand, MI, the son of Forest D. and Verna E. (Biggs) Barber. Don was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during World War II. On July 12, 1952, he married the former Beatrice M. Brimmer. He retired from General Motors (Alpine) in 1989 after many years of employment. He loved sports, especially basketball and football. More than anything, he was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who will be deeply missed, especially by his wife of 60 years, Beatrice; children, Charles Barber of Grand Rapids and Nancy (David) Arntz of Greenville; daughter-in-law, Patricia Barber of Greenville; grandchildren, Julie (Justin) Bogart of Ionia, Andrew Roach of Ionia, Nicholas Barber (Linsey Christensen) of Greenville, and Becky (Josh) Taylor of Rockford; great-granddaughter, Tara Gurski; brother, Jerry (Joyce) Barber of Arizona; brother-in-law, Stan (Yvonne) Brimmer of Kentucky; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Ted Barber in 2011; and brothers, Jack and Dick Barber. Private family services will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be given to Spectrum Health Hospice and Palliative Care.
