1957 - 2013
 James Floyd Knapp, age 55 of Gowen, died Monday, January 7, 2012 at his mothers home in Greenville. He was born June 29, 1957, the son of Floyd and Carolyn (Newland) Knapp. Jim was a volunteer firefighter for the Harvard and Spencer Township Fire Departments for over 30 years. He was a very skilled heavy equipment mechanic, working for Giar Equipment in Dutton for 25 years. He is survived by his son, Michael (Amanda) Knapp of Sand Lake; mother, Carolyn Knapp of Greenville; brothers, Jeff (Catherine) Knapp of Cedar Springs and Joel Knapp of Grand Rapids; sister, Jill (Jeff) Tice of Ortonville; special aunt and uncle, Kathy and Bill Cole; best friend, Chris Lange; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Floyd Knapp, in 2008; and his nephew, Bryan Knapp, in 2010. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, January 11, 2013 at Hurst Funeral Home, Greenville, with Chaplain Jeff England officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. Memorial contributions may be given to Spencer Township (Parks).

Jim's mother Carolyn is my first cousin, and I think Jim may have been named for my father James Gall. My brother Ken Gall, sister Alice Clayton, and I send our condolences. All of you are in our thoughts and prayers.
