He was a longtime Little League baseball coach in Greenville, and an avid University of Michigan football fan. More than anything, he was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, despite his Archie Bunker tendencies. Roland will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 58 years, Audrey; children, Barbara (Robert) Woodard of Gowen, Susan (Wes) James of Texas, Sharon (Scott Betts) Demorest of North Carolina, Roland (Pamela) Demorest of Greenville, and Allen (Doris) Demorest of Greenville; grandchildren, Lori Searson, Leah Nuendorf, John (Jennifer) Woodard, Andrew Robinson, Sarah (Adam) Neill, Adam Robinson, Max Betts, Grace Betts, Ezra Betts, Mitchell Demorest, Jessica Demorest, Alexandrea Demorest, Danielle Demorest, Arend Demorest, Dean Demorest, Catherine James, and April James; five great-grandchildren; brother, Roger (Harriet) Demorest; and brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Frank Barnes, Thomas Barnes, and Terrell Rauwolf. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, David Woodard; and brothers, Robert, Raymond, and Ralph Demorest. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, March 2, 2013 at Hurst Funeral Home, with Rev. Jeffrey Wilhelm of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church officiating. Dear Audrey and family,
We just learned of Roland's death, too late to go to visitation or the funeral. Our deepest sympathies are with you all. We always really liked Roland; he had spunk, was always very friendly toward us, and was a great basesball coach for Matt when he played Little League.
God be with you and comfort you all in your time of mourning.

May God be with you in the loss of your husband, father, and grandfather. We have not seen Roland for several years but would never have guessed that he could be ten years older then us.
