She was born May 31, 1924 in Edmore, the daughter of Fred and Ottie (Wilson) Christensen. She graduated from Edmore High School, Class of 1941. She went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree from Central Michigan University and Master of Education degree from Michigan State University. She was a classroom and homebound teacher for 34 years, and a teaching consultant for the Montcalm Area Intermediate School District for eight years. In addition, she taught piano and quilting classes. She served as organist for more than 40 years. She also served as a hospice volunteer for 25 years. She enjoyed baking, quilting, and spending time with her friends and family. Lucille married Victor Jensen on June 30, 1945, and they enjoyed more than 60 years of marriage together. He preceded her in death, as did her parents and a daughter, Darlys. She will be lovingly remembered by her son and daughter-in-law, Randall and Sheryl Jensen; two very special grandsons, David and Peter Jensen; special friends, Lon and Carolyn Leonard; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends. Lucille acted as a Godmother, mentor, and "special" grandma to many. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Edmore, with visitation Monday from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at church and Tuesday from 10:00 to 11:00 AM prior to the funeral at church. sorry to find out of Lucille passing so much later. She was known my by parents Kay and Nelson Bessey. A wonderful person. I will never forget when my son at age of 5 now 25 was selling things for school. No one would order any wrapping paper and he showed it to everyone. Lucille was his only customer to order wrapping paper. I am sure she is greatly missed.

Randall & Family, I have many fond memories of your mom (my moms cousin) my fondest memory of her is the pocketful of photos she always carried with her everywhere to share, her family especially her grandsons and of course her beautiful handmade quilts. I was glad to see her holding a small quilt in her hands to take with her.

Mrs. Jensen will be sorely missed. She was my 1st grade teacher and one of my very, very favorite teachers. I never saw her without a smile on her face. She was one of the most loving, caring and dedicated teachers I have ever known. My life was made so rich by having known her. I will always love you Mrs. Jensen for the love and care that you showed me.

Randy and family we will miss your mother a great deal. In the last 3 years she has felt like family to us. Her friendship with my father changed a lonely old man into one who looked forward to each day because of his friend Lucy. Lucy had a spirit that would not quit - no matter what life handed her, she went forward with a zeal and love of life. jim and I have met few people like her and consider our lives richer and fuller because she became a part of them. Her generosity knew no bounds - the joy of giving, helping others, were just second nature to her - it was her very being. We will always treasure the short time we spent with your mother and be so thankful that she entered our lives.

Randall & family ~ so sorry to hear of your loss. Your mom was such a wonderful person. Up until a couple years ago she would buy fruit from me at Vestaburg HS and I would deliver it to her. We'd spend a little time talking; I always enjoyed our conversations. She was a very sweet lady and always had a smile. All who knew her were fortunate to have her in their lives. May God bless your family.

Over the years I have enjoyed her quilts, recipies and hearing about all of you. She was at my house for Easter last year with Carolyn & Lon. Lucille and my hunsband Jim,who is also an avid "Tiger Fan",had the best time cheering them on! There was alot of noise and laughter! She inspired me with just her presence. What a wonderful mother & grandmother you had. She will be greatly missed.

Lucille and I became close friends in high school and upon graduation she went to college and i joined the Army Air Force. Until 2007 we never had any contact then one day I decided to call her from my home in Houston, Texas. That was the start of the renewal of a wonderful friendship. In 2010 I visited her with my daughter, son-in-law, and grandson. We instantly became close friends again and each summer thereafter I would visited her at her home in Edmore. She and I revisited the places in Edmore where we shared our youth together. She was so kind and generous to me whenever I visited. We spent hours talking on the phone, emailing each other everyday, exchanging letters and she sent me her wonderful homemade cookies. Lucille was an avid Detroit Tiger fan. I could not get the games in Houston but she would call me and give me an inning by inning description of the game as it was happening on her TV. She was a great sports announcer! i will miss her very much. She was a wonderful companion and girlfriend and will be greatly missed by this old man. The days will be lonely without hearing her sweet voice on the phone each day to greet me.

Lucille Jensen was a dear friend of my mother and of my family. She and my mother spent many enjoyable hours working on quilts together. She was always available to lend a hand, no matter the circumstances. She also made the best raspberry pies in the world! She will be missed by all who knew her.
