1927 - 2013
Evelyn Marie Morrison, aged 85, passed away at Metron of Belding on Thursday, May 30, 2013, where she had been a resident for the past 5 ½ years. She was also a previous resident of Lansing, Derby Lake Stanton, and Palmetto, FL. She was born July 6, 1927 in St. Johns to Clark and Gladys Struble. On October 17, 1959 she married LeRoy Morrison in Lansing. He was an excellent caregiver for Evelyn during her beginning stages of Alzheimers disease until his death on December 16, 2007. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, David Burghard, and her husband, LeRoy Morrison. She was also preceded in death by her grandson, Tyler Compton; sisters, Lucille Freed and Pauline LaFave; and brothers, Harry, Warren, and Bill Struble. She was formally employed in Lansing at Farm Crest Bakery, Eagles of Lansing, Lansing Stamping, Beemans Super Market, VanAlstines, General Motors Plant 2, and Electrolux in Greenville. Evelyn is survived by her children, Rebecca (John) Debar of Lansing, Steven (Denise) Morrison of Stanton, and Lisa (Perry) Galloway of Myrtle Beach, SC. Also surviving are her grandchildren, David Debar, Stefanie (Kevin) Kite, Shelly (Nick) Bigelow, and Steven Morrison; great-grandchildren, Lance Debar, Allie, Gemma, Hunter, and Molly Bigelow; step-great-granddaughter, Kaitlyn Kite; sister, Grace (Donald) Wood, brother, Clark (Margarite) Struble; and brother-in-law, William Freed. Evelyn was a wonderful cook and baker and was known for her great pies and infamous peanut butter fudge. Her family recipes have been passed down to be enjoyed by all. She also enjoyed playing cards with family and friends. Both Evelyn and LeRoy enjoyed visiting the casino and working together on wood craft projects, which were shared with their family. They also participated in several craft shows. Evelyn enjoyed bird watching and gardening, and her beautiful flower beds were her pride and joy. The family would like to thank the staff of Metron of Belding for the wonderful care and friendliness given to their mother. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 11:30 AM Saturday, June 22, 2013 at the Winter Inn Restaurant (100 N. Lafayette St., Greenville) in the patio garden, with a luncheon to follow.
