
Florence Emma Griffith age 90 of Greenville formerly of Six Lakes and Mc Bride passed away Friday June 21, 2013 at her home in Green Acres Retirement Living in Greenville.
She was born on July 12, 1922 in Benona Township, Oceana County, Michigan the daughter of Warren H. and Vera E. (Morse) Bird. She was married to Harry Peterson in 1941 and he preceded her in death while serving in WWII. She married Lloyd A. Griffith in 1945 in Ludington and he preceded her in death in Jan 1992. She was also preceded in death by her infant daughter Katherine and her son Le Roy Peterson in 1998, her brother Frank Bird and a special extra daughter Jean Fordyce.
She was employed by the Leach Oil Company in McBride, the Heinz Corporation and retired from the Ore Ida Co. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, former member of the Rebeccas and camping clubs. She enjoyed her auxiliary duties, camping trips, crocheting and mostly her family.
She is survived by her children; James (Donna) Griffith of Goulais River, Ontario, Canada, Marian Griffith of Greenville, Robert Griffith of Alma, grandchildren, Kendra Hudson of Florida, Casondra Kneff of Sault Sainte Marie, MI, SSG James Jr. (Paula) Griffith of Ft. Knox KY, Jenna of Ionia, Cory Griffith of Alma, Bobbi Jo (Lenon) Raymond of Greenville, Tonya (Duane) Addis of Stanton, Duane Peterson of Remus, Benjamin Slater of Greenville, 16 great grandchildren, sister Leone Benedict of Ludington, brothers in law and sisters in law, Lyle (Fayetta) Griffith of Custer, Ruth Malusky, Leo (Lil) Griffith and Norma (Don) Wheaten all of Oregon and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday June 25,2013 at 1 PM from Hurst Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Jerrold T. Jones officiating. Burial will be in McBride Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday from 6 to 8 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions may be given to Green Acres Retirement Living activity fund.
Her family especially thanks the wonderful care she received the last 10 years of living at Green Acres.
