
Harold W. Blossey of Gowen (age 92), formerly of Lansing, died Sunday August 4th, 2013 at Green Acres Assisted Living Facility in Greenville. He was born June 26, 1921 in Charlotte, to William and Lillian (Tribolet) Blossey. He married Harriet J. Fuller on February 28, 1949 at Christ Lutheran Church, Lansing, MI. Harold was a US Army Veteran (1942-1946) of World War II and a recipient of the Purple Heart while serving oversea in the European Theater. A retiree of Oldsmobile Division-Lansing, he enjoyed traveling with his wife and children in Michigan and especially to Florida. In his younger years he was an avid motorcycle enthusiast traveling around Michigan and the U.S. with his brother Gene. He is survived by his son David H. (Cynthia) Blossey of Gowen, daughters Sandra J. Yarborough (Ron Moeller) of Dayton, OH and Barbara A. (Ron) Chuvalas of Long Island, NY. Grandchildren John (Nicole) Blossey, Jennifer Blossey, and Jane Blossey, great-grandchildren Connor and Kaitlyn Blossey, his brother Otto (Kaye) Blossey of Eustis, Florida. Harold was preceded in death by his wife Harriet and his brothers Frederick and Eugene Blossey. Graveside services will be held at the DeWitt Cemetery, DeWitt at 2pm Wednesday August 7th with visitation starting at 1 pm at the grave site. Rev. E. Anthony Sikora of Hope Lutheran Church, DeWitt, will officiate. There will also be a time of visitation Tuesday from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at Hurst Funeral Home, Greenville.
