We have such wonderful memories of visiting with the Walkers! Kirk would play cribbage with Porter, and after he passed I would visit with Marian. After she couldn't visit church in person any more, she always wanted to know all about how everyone and everything was doing. She accepted a Stephen Minister and those two formed a very strong bond. I know there's a party in Heaven today!

Words can't express how much Marian has meant to me. She and Porter were friends of my husband's family when Gene was a little boy. Gene used to be right in the way when Porter tried to do the plumbing at the farm. Porter always told me of that story with such pride. Marian hired me at United Memorial when I got out of high school. I applied for secretary job and only opening was housekeeping so she didn't think I would want that. To be married that fall , I took the job which lead eventually to nursing school and many years at UMH. She was an inspiration to me, through her love and kindness, open mindedness and forever young in heart and mind. I will miss our late evening visits, I would arrive maybe at 6 and plan to leave at 8:30 but before you knew it was 11:00 pm. She always giggled about the time I went in a snow storm to visit (I tried to postpone but she was so disappointed, I went), we had 6-8 inches of snow during the visit. She was determined to shovel snow and this was just a few years ago. I think everyone should be as ambitious and determined to carry on through any problems just as she did. I shall always cherish the time spent with her and never forget her love and care shown to me and my family. The Angels are singing with her now and Porter has his sweetheart with him. I love you Marian, Good night.

What a wonderful person. I will miss her cards and notes. My prayers are also with her Church family as Greenville celebrates the life of yet another who embodied the community that is First UMC.

I volunteered with Marian for many years at the FUMC Christmas Bazaar cleaning tables for the luncheon. She was always so much fun. And, if you can make cleaning tables fun - you are a pretty special lady.

Greenville has lost a wonderful lady. Marian was a lifelong friend of my mother, Esther, and regularly remembered her with cards and notes the last few months of my mother's life. After my mother's passing, Marian continued to correspond with Joyce and me. I didn't see her often, but she has left a lasting impression on me with her kindness and Christian love.

Marion and my mom became friends when they worked together at the hospital 60 years ago. They continued that friendship and loved to talk and visit as often as possible. Marian, I picture you now with my mom in heaven catching up on the 6 months since you last talked. I will miss you. Thank you for being in my life and always being one of the classiest ladies I've ever know.

Porter & Marian were our neighbors for many years. My sister and I spent a lot of time with Marian. She would play, walk, tell stories, lay out in the driveway in the sun. We have many, many special memories of them both. They were always there at open houses, funerals etc. They both have meant so much to our families. I got a Christmas card from her last year. I will not be able to attend her service, but know my thoughts will be with her family. Marian was special to many people, I am glad that she was my friend!!! She will be missed!!

Marian and Porter will always have a special place in our hearts and families. Their love and respect for each other was a testimony to us and our children. Many happy memories of whipped cream, and holidays will be treasured by us all.

I am so glad I got to Green Acres 8-13-2013 to visit Marian. I worked with here at United Memorial when I got out of high school until 1965 when I had my first child and stayed home. She was a wonderful person to work with and also a wonderful friend. We will all miss her very much. Helen Anderson
