1922 - 2013
Delores Chalfant, age 90, passed away at Spectrum Health United Rehab and Nursing Center in Greenville on Tuesday, September 17, 2013. Born in Detroit on November 21, 1922, she was the daughter of John and Eleanor Mason. She graduated from Mt. Clemens High School in 1940. She married Donald Chalfant in Roseville on November 1, 1945. Delores was preceded in death by her husband in 1982; mother, Eleanor Watson; and step-father, Louis Watson. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Rod Millard of Greenville, with whom she made her home for 18 years; two grandsons, Marc (Joy) Millard of Park City, Utah and Ryan Millard of Grand Rapids; one great-granddaughter, Jolie Millard; one brother, Russell (Mary) Mason of Flint; two step-daughters, Maureen (Gene) Pietrokowski and Patricia (Gilbert) Felan, both of Gaylord; and eight step-grandchildren. Delores attended Cowden Lake Christian Church in Coral for 34 years, and her favorite Bible passage was John 14:2-4. In accordance with her wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, September 20, 2013 at Trufant Cemetery, Pastor Bob Oliveira officiating. Memorial contributions may be given to a charity for glaucoma research, to Sloan Kettering Research Hospital, or to a charity of one's choice.
