Wayne Edgar Flint, age 83 of Sidney, died Friday, September 20, 2013. He was born April 30, 1930 to Luther and Cassie (Middleton) Flint in Flint, MI. On June 20, 1959, he married Twilah L. Bekke in Vista, CA. Wayne graduated from Belding High School in 1949, and from Palomar College in 1955. He served in United States Army for two years during the Korean Conflict. After completing a four-year apprenticeship program, Wayne worked for ten years as a Journeyman Machinist at Oldsmobile in Lansing. He decided he would rather be a rural route mail carrier, and for 22 years he did just that in the Sidney and Stanton areas. He retired from the Postal Service in 1994. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Doris Diebold; and one brother, Boyd Allen. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Twilah; two sons, Dwayne Flint of Hager Shores, MI and Robin (Rebecca) Flint of Sidney; three daughters, LeAnn (James) Horn of Freeport, FL, Ronda (Misak) Dulbandzhyan of Sheridan, and Roxanne (Andrew) Switzer of Sidney; ten grandchildren, Ashleigh and Bekke Horn, Nicholas, Kirsten, and J.J. Dulbandzhyan, Jacob Rogers, Hailey Flint, and Paige, Todd, and Jenna Switzer; one great-grandson, Colton; and one sister, Beverly Christiansen of San Marcos, CA. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, September 23, 2013 at Settlement Lutheran Church (1031 S. Johnson Rd., Gowen, MI 49326), with visitation from 10:00 to 11:00 AM prior to the service. Vicar Karen Ressel will serve as officiant. A luncheon will follow in the church fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Settlement Lutheran Church or the Michigan Parkinson Foundation (30400 Telegraph Rd., Suite 150, Bingham Farms, MI 48025).

I Rememember Wayne with fond memories when my parents went to the house of Luke and Cassie FLint on Liberty Street in Belding. Wayne even then was kind and focused. Doris was older so i only knew her through my parents description. I remember with huge fondness when i was in training as a young marine in san diego california in the hospital and when my parents told Luke where i was, he and Cassie took time away from thier home in San Diego and came and visited me. That meant a lot to me and i never forgot it. That is the kind of family that Wayne was a part of. RIP my friend.
