1920 - 2013
Florence Louise Paden, 93 passed away peacefully on Monday, November 11, 2013 at her familys home in Crystal. A former Greenville resident and longtime resident of Lakeview, Florence was born on October 8, 1920 in Philadelphia, PA, the only child of Helen and James Houtman. Florence spent her early childhood traveling with her parents while her father served as a Naval officer. Eventually, they settled in Six Lakes, MI where her parents purchased and operated the Six Lake Hotel. In 1934 she graduated from Six Lakes School and in June of 1936, married the love of her life, Roy Paden in LaGrange IN. Together, they built a home in Lakeview and spent 51 happy years together until Roy passed away in 1987.
Florence spent over 30 years working as a clerk and later as a store manager at the former Moblo Pharmacy in downtown Lakeview. She loved the many lifelong friends and acquaintances she made through her work and activities in the community. She was a Past Matron of the Eastern Star and a member of various church groups over the years. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, entertaining, painting and word search puzzles. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with friends and family and took special pride in being a grandma and a great-grandma.
Florence is survived by her son, Wayne Paden of Greenville, granddaughter, Kerin (Bob) Naumann of Crystal, and her beloved great-granddaughter, Haley Lutherloh of Crystal. Special friends include Trisha and Greg Saylor of Crystal, Mitzi Rank, Flower Mound, TX and Kay Hair, Greenville.
A special thank you to Hospice Services of Sparrow and the office of Dr. S.T. Ferguson for their loving care and support.
Cremation has taken place and a private family memorial will be held at a later date. Memorial Contributions may be given to the Lakeview United Church of Christ (115 5th St, Lakeview, MI 48850)
Hurst Funeral Home is serving the Paden family and messages of condolence may be sent via hurstfuneralhome.com.

I was saddened to hear of Florence's death this week, but, in reflecting about her influence, I realize again how Florence blessed the Moblo family's life in so many ways over the years. Having caring adult mentors in a child's life has been proven to be a very important aspect in growth and development. Florence was that for me, as I stopped in the store after school each day and as I worked many years at the store. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of Florence's family.

"Florence" was our dad's (Richard Moblo, Pharmacist, Moblo's Lakeview Pharmacy) right-hand gal when we were growing up in Lakeview. She & Roy were part of our lives. Of the characters I ran across in my young life, Florence is right at the top. A great smile, a wonderful seemingly constant whistle, and a beautiful person in so many ways. She sometimes took her job assisting "Dick" by offering a few words of advice to us boys (there were only 6 of us...and 4 girls to make it an even 10. Though stern sometimes there was always a sense that she loved us, too. Thanks, Florence for life lessons and being there for my dad.

Wayne, Mike and I wish to express our sympathy to you and your family. Florence was a special lady who always was friendly and smiling when we saw her. My mom and her shared a lot of good times working in the drug store many years ago. God Bless!

Wayne, so sorry to hear about your mother, I miss seeing her when I did her taxes each year while I was volunteering. She was a sweet heart and I've always enjoyed visiting with her and asking about you and your family.
it has been so many years since we have seen each other and been able to visit. God Bless you and your family. One thing nice is she lived a long and productive live and will be missed by many.
