Lois G. Simon, age 85, passed away early Thursday, November 21, 2013 at her home in Edmore, MI. She was born September 1, 1928 in Cadillac, MI, the daughter of John and Ada (Nadeau) Hutchinson. She graduated from Blanchard High School, class of 1946. On June 26, 1948, she married Martin Simon at St. Michael Catholic Church in Remus, MI. Lois was an active member of St. Margaret Mary Alacoque Catholic Church in Edmore. She enjoyed crocheting, reading, and traveling. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and will be deeply missed, especially by her husband of 65 years, Martin Simon of Edmore; children, John (Vicki) Simon of Poughkeepsie, NY, Janice (Bill) Wille of Black Earth, WI, Diane Helvey of Redlands, CA, Lynn (Dave) Pruitt of Canton, MI, Kathleen (Brad) Stanfield of Ft. Wayne, IN, and Ken (Christine) Simon of Woodbury, MN; grandchildren Marc, Christy (Scott), Kathy (Joe), Karen, Jacob (Trisha), Ben (Michele), Matt (Emily), Allison, Emilie, Stephanie (Chris), Patrick, Beth, Andrew (Audra), Lori, Erin, and Megan; great-grandchildren John, Mark, Lizzie, Rebecca, Moira, Everett, and Audrey; step-sisters Ilene Ikens and Marilee Foltz; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her sister Beverly Swan; and her step-brother Tom Hutchinson. The Mass of Christian Burial for Lois will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, November 25, 2013 at St. Margaret Mary Alacoque Catholic Church in Edmore, MI; Rev. Dominic Tirkey presiding. Visitation will be at church Sunday from 5:00 to 7:00 PM and Monday from 10:00 to 11:00 AM prior to the funeral. Interment will be in St. Michael Catholic Cemetery, Remus, MI. Memorial contributions may be made to the Michigan Eye Bank or to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
