Harry Eugene Baker, age 66 of Stanton, died Wednesday, January 1, 2014 in Grand Rapids. He was born November 22, 1947 in Ypsilanti, the son of Donald and Nadene (Rhodes) Baker. Harry was a proud veteran, having served in the United States Army in the Vietnam War, where he was a helicopter mechanic. He retired after 31 years as an employee of General Motors in Lansing. He was preceded in death by his parents and by Tyler D. McGill, who Harry thought of as a grandson. He is survived by his brother, Rick Baker; best friend, Peggy D. White; Tina and Robert McGill and Melissa Badder, who were like children to him; and Travis McGill, Treyton Donley, and Brandon Woodhams, who he thought of as grandchildren. In accordance with his wishes, cremation will take place and no public services will be held.
