1924 - 2014
 Maxine L. Wood age 89 of Greenville passed away Tuesday July 1, 2014 at her home. She was born August 17,1924 the daughter of Clyde and Lottie (Green) Gender near Gowen MI. She was a graduate of Trufant High School and worked for many years at the former Ranney Refrigerator Co and retired from Northland Corporation. She enjoyed writing poetry especially for family and dear friends. She was married on April 27, 1946 to Jay A. Wood and he preceded her in death on February 2, 2004 and also her brother Donald Gender.
She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and came from the greatest generation of hard work and devotion to family and neighbors, especially the Baldwin street neighborhood.
She is survived by her sons and families, Robert Wood, Jack (Gay) Wood and Gary (Pam) Wood, grandchildren, Deanne Sweirez, Christopher Wood, Angie (Glenn) Adams, Susan (Joe) Nichols, Jessica (Adam) Knickerbocker, Marcus Wood, 10 great grandchildren , 3 great great grandchildren, her brothers Dale and Bruce Gender, her sister-in-law Virginia Wood and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on 2 PM Saturday July 5, 2014 at Hurst Funeral Home with Rev. Joel Heron officiating. Visitation will be Saturday from 1 PM to 2 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be in Rest Haven Memory Gardens, Belding MI. Memorial contributions may be given to a charity of your choice.

Aunt Gay, Uncle Jack, Jessica, Marc, and the entire family - I am so very sorry for your loss. I have fond memories of Maxine from playing in their pool, seeing her at the Danish festival and other get togethers. She was always very sweet to Mike, Heidi and I. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
