Anna "Annie" Barker Carter, 78, Lancaster, Ohio, passed away at her residence Saturday, Oct. 18, 2003. She was born April 24, 1925, in New Haven, WV, daughter of the late Jesse Ray Barker and Susanne Fern Powell Barker. She retired from Hickel's Department Store in 1983 and from Main Drug Store, both of Lancaster, in 1989. She was a member of the Good Shepard Chapel, Lancaster.
She married Carson Carter on Nov. 27, 1953 at Middleport and they would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this November.
In addition to her husband Carson, Annie is survived by two daughters, Pam (Gerald) Truesdell of Rio Grande, and Norma Ann Carter of Lancaster; three grandchildren, J.C. (Xanthe) Glassburn of Cheshire, Jane (Michael) Brandeberry of Bidwell, Aimee Glassburn of Rio Grande; 7 great grandchildren, Shelby and Ty Smith of Rio Grande Josh and Jamie Glassburn of Cheshire, Levi and Cobi Brandeberry of Bidwell, Chelsea Brown of Rio Grande; three sisters, Jeanette (Sherman) Weimann of Lancaster, Doris (Richard) Bailey of Middleport, Carolyn (Bill) Demoskey of Middleport; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 21, at the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Vinton with the Rev. Marvin Sallee and the Rev. Chester Hess officiating. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery near Bidwell. Friends may call at the funeral home 6-9 p.m. Monday.
