Ottis C. Johnson, 81, Bidwell, passed away Saturday, Nov. 22, 2003 at his residence.
He was born April 14, 1922, at Ramsey Town, N.C., son of the late Roy and Cordellia Silvers Johnson.
Ottis retired from Kiser Aluminum Corp., Ravenswood and he was a member of the United Steel Workers of America. He was a World War II Army Veteran and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was also a member of the White Oak Baptist Church.
He married Ellen Tipton, Aug. 26, 1946, at Urvin, Tenn., and she survives with eight sons and daughters-in-law: Alvin (Jewel) Johnson of Bidwell, Chet (Sandy) Johnson of Bidwell, Roy (Sandal) Johnson of Bidwell, Reid (Diane) Johnson of Bidwell, Cirby (Glendine) Johnson of Bidwell, Lyne (Linda) Johnson of Bidwell, Tracy (Angela) Johnson of Gallipolis; 18 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; several step grandchildren; four brothers and three sisters, Ray Johnson of Valesmill, Gay Johnson of Wilkesville, Rex (Johnnie) Silvers of Lake City, Fla., Vernon Silvers of Burnsville, N.C., Glessie Tipton of Lake City, Fla., Joanne Presley of Swananon, N.C., Birdie Owens of Georgia and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Hiley Johnson.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, in the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Vinton with the Rev. Carl Ward officating. Burial will follow in the Vinton Memorial Park.
Friends may call at the funeral home 6-8 p.m. Monday.
