Jettie Slone Ward, 83, Vinton, passed away in Holzer Medical Center, Gallipolis, Wednesday, March 24, 2004.
She was born Sept. 29, 1920, in Pike County, Ky., a daughter of the late Bogar and Ollie Chapman Slone. She was a homemaker and a member of the Rio Grande Church of Christ.
She married Drewie Ward June 4, 1938 in Pike County, Ky., and he preceded her in death Aug. 18, 1973.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Ezert and Earsel Ward; an infant daughter, Louisa Ward; two sisters; five brothers and Drewie Ward’s first wife, Hattie Murphy Ward.
Jettie is survived by six sons, Emsie Ward of Groveport; Homer (Thelma) Ward of Lake Panasoffkee, Fla.; James (Wanda) Ward of Vinton; Garland (Ezell) Ward of Vinton; Robert (Eunice) Ward of Kimper, Ky.; and Virgil Ward of Gallipolis; six daughters, Mae Robinson of Akron; Erma J. (James) Charles of Obetz; Geraldine (Lee Roy) Hunt of Vinton; Yvonia Ward of Collierville, Tenn.; Rozetta (Henry) Cox of Bell Buckle, Tenn. and Pauline Ward of Gallipolis; 45 grandchildren; 93 great-grandchildren; 24 great-great-grandchildren and a brother, Ray Slone of Kimper, Ky.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, March 27, 2004, at the Community Funeral Home, Pikeville, Ky.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 6-9 p.m., Friday evening.
