Chester M. Young, 73, of Gallipolis, Ohio, passed away Thursday, April 29, 2004, at his residence.
He was born March 27, 1931, at Gallipolis, a son of the late Talmadge Craddolph and Emma Young. He was a retired employee of the City of Gallipolis, and a U.S. Air Force veteran serving during the Korean Conflict.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, James A. Howard, who died December 26, 2003.
He is survived by his wife, Nellie M. Davis Young, whom he married Sept. 8, 1968, at Gallipolis, Ohio. He is also survived by four daughters, Althea Howard of Gallipolis; Peggie (Lee) Combs of Rutland; Patty (Robert) Armstrong of Crown City; Marica (David) Stroud of Bidwell; three sons, Edward (Winnie) Howard of Gallipolis; Freddie (Judy) Howard of Gallipolis; Charles (Yolanda) Howard of Gallipolis; 14 grandchidren and 28 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, May 1, 2004, at the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Wetherholt Chapel, 420 First Ave., Gallipolis with the Rev. Calvin Minnis and the Rev. Melvin O. Freeman officiating.
Burial will follow at Ohio Valley Memory Gardens, Gallipolis.
