Edna M. Payne, 99, of Bidwell, passed away May 19, 2004, in Holzer Senior Care Center.
She was born Jan. 27, 1905, in Gallia County, the daughter of the late William E. Stevens and Adaline Nuby Stevens.
Mrs. Payne was a member of the Mount Carmel Baptist Church in Bidwell.
She was preceded in death by one son, E. Maurice Payne; three brothers, Roy, Carl, and William Stephens; and one sister, Blanch Strawther.
She is survived by three children, Helen Boyd of Middleport, Joanne Bass of Bidwell, and Bobby E. (Iris) Payne of Middleport; one daughter-in-law, Marjorie Payne of Bidwell; nine grandchildren, David (Janice) Boyd of Middleport, Donna Boyd of Middleport, Carol Petty of Bidwell, Greg (Janice) James of Bidwell, Lori (Greg) Lafferty of Bidwell, Raelene Holland of Columbus, Kim Payne of Middleport, Angela Payne of Middleport, and Richard (Robin) Payne of Bidwell; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, and a twin sister, Ada Payne of Bidwell.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday, May 24, 2004, at Mount Carmel Baptist Church, with the Rev. Gene Armstrong officiating. Burial will follow in the Pine Street Cemetery in Gallipolis. Friends may call at the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home in Vinton from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, May 23, 2004.
