Olen Clyde Wilfong, 81, of Vinton, passed away in his residence on Sunday, July 25, 2004.
Born April 3, 1923 in McRoberts, Ky., son of the late Earl Caldwell Wilfong and Baltimore Maryland Brown Wilfong, he was a graduate of the Coyne Electrical School, Chicago, Ill., a WWII Navy Veteran, and had retired from the CSX Railroad in 1985, following fifteen years of service.
He was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, Porter, the Vinton American Legion Post 161, the DAV Chapter 53, and the Gallia County Service Association.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Connie Olene Wilfong; three brothers, Ralph, Carl, and Vernon Wilfong; and two sister, Non Wilfong and Mildred Smith.
He married Lucy Alice Brewster on March 6, 1948 in Pikeville, Ky., and she survives.
He is also survived by three children, Tom (Marguerite) Wilfong of Miami, Fla., Mike (Kathy) Wilfong of Middleport, and Jean (Billy) Petrie of Vinton; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Trinity United Methodist Church, Porter, with the Rev. Pat King and the Rev. Paul Ring officiating. Burial will be in the Vinton Memorial Park.
Military grave side services will be conducted by the Vinton American Legion, Post 161.
Friends may call from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Vinton.
