
Former Juneau resident Jason Tripp Cunningham, 34, died in his sleep Sept. 6, 2004, in Gallipolis, Ohio.
He was born Nov. 30, 1969, in Juneau. He enjoyed his work as a tattoo artist, and was very passionate about his profession. He had been a member of several bands in Juneau, Washington and Ohio. One of the better-known bands he helped to form was the local group Marty's Pants. He wrote often, and expressed himself through song lyrics and poetry.
His family wrote, "He was a talented artist whose everyday life revolved around music." They said in addition to being missed by his family, he had many good friends throughout the United States who will miss him.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Lucille Behrends; grandmother, Jane Cunningham; grandfather, Ralph Cunningham; aunt, Nedra Estrada; and stepmother, Marijeanne Fenno-Cunningham.
He is survived by his daughter, Tawney (Cunningham) Letterman; mother, Joanne Behrends; stepfather, Tom Lundstrom; grandfather, Frank "Dutch" Behrends; sisters, Stacy (Jay) York and Tia (Hector) San Miguel, all of Juneau; father, Gene Cunningham of Bellingham, Wash.; and many uncles, aunts and cousins of the Behrends and Cunningham families.
A celebration of his life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 18, at Squires Rest. All friends and family are invited to come.
