George R. Violand, 74, Crown City, Ohio, passed away Thursday, September 30, 2004 at OSU Medical Center, Columbus, Ohio. He was born April 23, 1930, at Chestnut Hill, Pennsylvania, son of Gladys Rahm Ruth, Upper Darby, Pennsylvania and the late George Violand.
A U.S. Army Veteran, he had served during the Korean Conflict as a Tech Sergeant. He was a retired Carpenter, serving with the Local #1595, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania for twenty-five years. He later was employed by HUD as a Rehab Coordinator. A fifty year member of Ohio Valley Masonic Lodge #536 of Crown City and also a member of VFW Post 4464, Gallipolis, OH.
He married Joyce James Violand August 30, 1956 at Gallipolis, Ohio and she survives with:

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Monday, October 4, 2004, at McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Wetherholt Chapel, 420 First Ave., Gallipolis, OH with Rev. Ralph Workman officiating. Burial will follow in Providence Cemetery, Clay Township, OH. Military graveside rites will be conducted by The Gallia County Veteran Service Organizations. Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
