
Delmar Ray Gingerich, 80, Gallipolis, Ohio, passed away in Holzer Medical Center, Saturday, February 25, 2006. He was born September 2, 1925, in Kalona, Iowa, son of the late Benjamin Gingerich and Mattie Mayer Gingerich. He was a Registered Nurse with thirty-five years service, retiring from Holzer Medical Center in 1990. He received his Bachelors of Science Degree in Nursing, University of Iowa in 1954 and was employed as an Urological Assistant at the University of Iowa, 1954 - 1955. He moved to Gallipolis in 1956 where he was employed by Holzer Medical Center until his retirement in 1990 following thirty-five years service. While a HMC, he served in the following positions: Urological Assistant, 1956 – 1971; In service Education Coordinator, 1971 – 1973; Review Corordinator for Medical Advances Institute, 1975-1979; and Director of Utilization Review, 1975 – 1979. Director of Quality Assurance/Utilization Review, 1979-1990. In addition, he served in the Holzer Home Health Dept. and made home visits in Gallia, Jackson and Mason Counties, 1973 – 1983. He was President of the Quality Review Coordinators of Ohio, 1984, and had served as a member of the Gallipolis City Health Advisory Board.
His memberships included: Grace United Methodist Church; Morning Dawn F&AM Lodge, 7; Gallipolis Chapter 79, Royal Arch Masons; Moriah Council 32; The Rose Commandery 43; Aladdin Temple Shrine; Gallipolis Shrine Club; Hillbilly Clan 7, Clown Activity Group; B.P.O. Elks Lodge, 107; and was a Kentucky Colonel.
Del is survived by his wife of fifty-eight years, Verna Yoder Gingerich; daughter and son-in-law: Patti and Charley Bodimer, Gallipolis, Ohio
Grandchildren: Joshua Wesley Bodimer, Gallipolis, Ohio Jessica Anne Bodimer, student, Morehead State Univ., Ky. Jacob Benjamin Bodimer, student, OSU., Columbus, Oh
And Brother and Sister: Clifford (Mary) Gingerich Rodchester, Minn. Mildred (Raymond) Zook Kalona, Iowa
He was preceded in death by a brother, Floyd Gingerich and an infant sister.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM, Wednesday, in Grace United Methodist Church, with Rev. Doug Stockton officiating. Private interment will be held at the convenience of the family. Friends may call at McCoy-Moore Funeral Home Tuesday, 4-8 pm.
