1916 - 2006

Hollis Miller, 90, Bidwell, passed away on Wednesday, August 23, 2006, at Holzer Medical Center, Gallipolis. He was a United States Army World War II Veteran and was a retired employee of the Gallipolis Developmental Center with twenty-one years of service. He was a member of American Legion Post #27, VFW Post #4464, Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, and Morgan Bethel Baptist Church.

Hollis was born on May 14, 1916, in Gallia County, son of the late James Oliver Miller and Mary Elizabeth Evans Miller.

Surviving are six children:

Danny Miller, California

Ricky (Lawrecene) Miller, Bidwell, OH

David Miller, Gallipolis, OH

Joyce (Samuel) Morris, Gallipolis, OH

Elizabeth (Earl) Howell, Armstrong, MO

Carolyn (Roger Jackson) Miller, Bidwell, OH

Fourteen grandchildren and several great-grandchildren:

He is preceeded in death by his wife, Gladys Miller, December 1969; two sons, Hollis Miller Jr and Randall Miller; four brothers and seven sisters.

Funeral Services will be held 1:00 P.M., Sunday, August 27, 2006, in the Morgan Bethel Baptist Church with Rev. Calvin Minnis officiating. Burial will follow in the Morgan Bethel Cemetery, Vinton, Ohio. Military Grave Side Rites to be conducted by Gallia County Veterans Services Organizations.

Friends may call at the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Vinton, 6:00 - 8:00 P.M., Saturday, August 26, 2006. Condolences may be e-mailed to www.timeformemory.com/mm.

To the Miller Family, Sorry to read about the passing of Hollis. I grew up in Bidwell and went to school with several of you. I am the youngest daughter of Reva(Murray)Fraley and the late Bill Fraley. Also my husband Tom works at Kyger Creek Power Plant where Joyce is employed too.
