Hayes Deel, 85 of Vinton, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly in Holzer Medical Center, Gallipolis, on Wednesday, May 30, 2007. He was born April 8, 1922, in Haysi, Virginia, son of the late Henry and Nancy Viers Deel.
Hayes was the owner and operator of Deel’s Dairy of Vinton until his retirement. He retired from the Gallia County Local Schools in 1986 where he was employed as a bus driver for more than 30 years. Hayes was a WW II U.S. Navy Veteran and a member of Vinton American Legion Post 161.
He is survived by his wife Esta Sellards Deel of Vinton, three sons and daughters-in-law:
Roger and Linda Deel, Jerry and Linda Deel and Fred and Mary Deel all of Vinton. Also surviving are Seven grandchildren: Greg (Karen) Deel, Vinton, Todd (Tracy) Deel, Thurman, Erin (Jason) Dailey, Jackson, Kyle Hayes (Sarah) Deel, Vinton, Liz (Brian) Stout, Gallipolis, Chris (Tiffany) Preston, Barboursville, W.Va., Kim (Steve) Runyon, Gallipolis; Ten great grand children: Megan, Zak, Jordan, Maddie, Brea, Abby, Lexi, Alli, Sydnee and Kayla and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be conducted 3:00 PM., Sunday, June 3, 2007, in the Vinton Baptist Church, 11818 SR 160, with Pastor Bob Powell and Pastor Marvin Sallee officiating. Burial will follow in the Vinton Memorial Park with Full Military Rites to be conducted by the Vinton American Legion Post 161. The grandchildren will serve as pallbearers and the Honorary Pallbearers are: John Payne, Johnny Payne and George Ratliff.
Friends may call at the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Vinton, on Saturday, 5:00-8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers the family request memorial donations be made to the Gallia County Junior Fair Improvement Fund, P.O. Box 931, Gallipolis, Ohio 45631.
