David A. Ball, 89, Gallipolis, formerly of Vinton, passed away on Saturday, August 25, 2007, in Holzer Medical Center.
He was born Feb. 13, 1918, in Boone County, W.Va.., son of the late Thomas Lee Ball and Victoria Nelson Ball. A US WW II Navy Veteran, he was a retired carpenter and farmer. He was a member of the Chapel Hill Church of Christ, Gallipolis, and had served on the North Gallia School Board and the North Gallia Athletic Boosters.
David is survived by his wife, Doris Sword.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Georgianna Webb Ball, on Aug. 9, 2001.
To this union survive a son, David M. (Betsy) Ball, Vinton; three daughters: Shirley (Jack) Mount, Bidwell, Ohio; Sandra Roach, Crown City, Ohio; Patricia (Ed) Black, Patriot, Ohio; grandchildren: David J. Ball, Vinton, Brionna Ball, Round Rock, Texas, Teresa Smith, Sommerville, S.C., Charles Roach, Gallipolis, Michelle Duckworth, Middleport, Gregory Roach, Crown City, Justin Roach, Gallipolis, Pamela Wiseman, Gallipolis; step-grandchildren: Matt and Mark Stepp, Todd Taylor; great-grandchildren: Joshua, Jeremy, and Amanda Smith, Courtney and Tristan Roach, Christa Martin, Caitlin and Hannah Roach, Alex and Tyler Wiseman; step-great-grandchildren: Macie, Ethan and Issacc Moss, Justin and Devan Duckworth
Preceding him in death were: granddaughter, Jodie Marie Ball; brothers: Ted, Clyde, Carney, and Tom Ball; and sisters, Luna Griffith and Faye Hill.
Funeral Services will be held 1 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2007, in the Chapel Hill Church of Christ, Gallipolis, with Evangelist Lewis Mikel officiating. Burial will follow in the Vinton Memorial Park. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Vinton.
Military Graveside Rites will be conducted by Vinton American Legion Post 161.
