Evelyn Smith Click for Condolences      Printable Version 1922 - 2008 Evelyn Smith, 86, of Gallipolis, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, February 28, 2008, at Holzer Senior Care Center, Bidwell. She attended the Huntington Business College, Huntington, WV. and was involved with her husband Harold in the Meigs Equipment Company, Pomeroy, OH., until the time of his death. In addition, she was an active member of the Gallipolis Christian Church and was a former member of the Pomeroy Church of Christ. Mrs. Smith was born Feb. 11, 1922 in Gallia County, Ohio, daughter of the late Clyde and Marjorie Patterson Saunders. She married Harold Edwin Smith in June, 1943, in Gallia County, Ohio, and he preceded her on June 22, 1972. She is survived by: Two Sons: Bryce (Nancy) Smith, Gallipolis, OH Mark (Jenny) Smith, Gallipolis, OH Five Grandchildren: Wendy (Bobby) Ashford, Margate, FL Meredith Smith, Gallipolis, OH Ryan (Vicki) Smith, Galllipolis, OH Nicholas (Kristel) Smith, Austin, TX Lindsay Smith, Fairlawn, OH Five Great-Grandchildren: Ethan and Isabella Ashford, Margate, FL Grant, Blake and Kennedy Smith, Gallipolis, OH Sister, Betty Sue Jeffers, Gahanna, OH Brother, Jim (Betty) Saunders, Gallipolis, OH and several Nieces and Nephews Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M., Sunday, March 2, 2008, in the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Wetherholt Chapel, 420 First Ave., Gallipolis, with Pastor Bob Powell officiating. Burial will follow in the Beech Grove Cemetery, Pomeroy, OH. Friends may call at the Funeral Home on Saturday from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be given to the Christian Church, 4486 SR 588, Gallipolis, Oh 45631. Condolences can be emailed to www.timeformemory.com.mm.

Many years have passed since the last time I saw Mrs. Smith. It is nice to know that I will remember her as I did growing up in Syracuse. Thoughts are with the entire family.

I remember Mrs Smith ,or Evelyn Saunders ,as I knew her when I was just a child , my family just lived down Route 7 a ways from the Saunders farm .Such a nice family , Remember the good times .

I have missed Nee Nee for some time now. We spent endless hours sewing and sharing life's blessings and sorrows. I thought of her as a Grandmother as mine lives so far away. The last few years have been painful to watch Nee Nee lose her way in this life but praise God her faith will take her to Heaven and to Harold her beloved husband. She spoke of him often and missed him severely. Nee Nee loved her boys unconditionally and we know you will miss her touch. God bless you all. Noreen, Matt and family
