MAHALA EVANS ROSS, 84, of Toledo, Ohio, formerly of Huntington, passed away Monday, January 12, 2004, at St. Anne’s Hospital Toledo. Funeral services will be conducted at 12:30 p.m. Friday at the Reger Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Docks Creek Cemetery, Kenova, W.Va. She was born March 25, 1919, in Lincoln County, W.Va., a daughter of the late Hugh and Evelyn Williams Evans. She was a homemaker and she was a member of the 18th Street United Baptist Church of Huntington. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ray V. Ross, Sr., and a daughter, Irene Ross. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Ray V. Ross, Jr. and Paula Ross of Toledo, Ohio; two daughters and a son-in-law, Kathleen Ross-Dean and Wallace Dean of Lavalette, and Dorothy J. Smith of Wayne, W.Va.; a former son-in-law, David Smith of Huntington; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Reger Funeral Home.
