1921 - 2007
 Beatrice Maxine Barr, 86 of Huntington, WV joined the Lord and her heavenly family Monday, June 18, 2007. She was born February 20, 1921 in Huntington, WV, a daughter of the late Millard and Goldie Savage Adkins. Maxine was a Licensed Practical Nurse and operated the LPN Private Duty Nursing Agency. She was the former president of the Huntington Fire Department Women’s Auxiliary. For many years, she was a member of Cox’s Landing Methodist Church where she played piano and organ and in later years, she and her husband attended Westmoreland Church of Christ. She loved life and found great joy in her involvement with friends and family. Preceding her in death was her loving husband of 37 years, retired Huntington Fireman Arthur “Whitey” Barr and two brothers, Marshall O’Neal Adkins of Salt Rock and Clodeon Adkins of California. Survivors include a son, James O’Neal Barr and his wife Cheryll, daughters Barbara Faulkner and her husband Noel, and Judith Kay Barr, all of Huntington, a special sister-in-law, Mabel Adkins of Salt Rock; five grandchildren: Latricia Adkins (Kevin), Shelly Adkins (Steve), Matthew Barr, Casey Barr and Carrie Barr (Nick); six great grandchildren Christopher, Michael, Zachary, Jacob, Seth and Jessica; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be two hours prior to the memorial service at the Reger Funeral Home from noon until 2:00 p.m. Thursday. Burial will follow in Baylous Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Huntington City Mission or Huntington Fire Museum: c/o HFFCU P.O. Box 2133 Huntington, WV, 25721. Jack worked with Whitey and Jim on the Huntington Fire Department and they were fine co-workers, Maxine was fine lady and she will be missed as was your father by many. Jean & Jack Rickman

Mom called me this morning to let me know about you mother's passing. Please know that you and your family are in my prayers. While the years and the miles have seperated some of us we will always be friends. Say hello to Cheryl for me. May God watch over and protect you and yours.
